Raising animals in an old fashioned way

does not mean that we are out of step with the current trends and up to date research.  Awareness by the average homemaker or consumer regarding, not only sustainable farming, but REGENERATIVE farming, eating local, organic and humanely raised livestock means that more and more people are appreciating the efforts of their local farms and farmers.  Olde Reminisce Farms is raising Kunekune Pigs in small batches on pasture when available always free ranging and living outdoors in the fresh air and sunlight.  When pasture is not plentiful, we feed bermuda grass hay and alfalfa, and we bed down our pigs with a variety of grasses.  Kunes need little in the way of supplimentation, however, we do feed organic commercial feeds along with organic seasonal fruits and vegetables.  Holistic methods and antibiotics are used when needed for the humane treatment of any sick pig.

The Grazing Pig

Kunekune Pigs are the only breed of swine known to fatten on grass with so very little needed in the way of supplementation.  Their wide head, dished face, and short, upturned snout speak to their ability and tendency to graze rather than root.

True preservation can only come through utilization of the animal as food creating a demand in perpetuity.  True Kunekune preservation can only come through an understanding of correct Kunekune type which speaks to their purpose as a grazing pig.....
